Polytetrafluoroethylene is a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene. The abbreviation is PTFE.

Mechanical properties: its friction coefficient is only 1 / 5 of polyethylene, which is an important feature of perfluorocarbon surface. Due to the very low intermolecular force of fluorine-carbon chain, PTFE is non-viscous.

Electrical properties: the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of PTFE in a wide frequency range are very low, and the breakdown voltage, volume resistivity and arc resistance are higher.

Radiation resistance: the radiation resistance of PTFE was poor, which was degraded by high energy radiation, and the electrical and mechanical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene decreased obviously.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) formed by free radical polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Industrial polymerization is agitated in the presence of a large amount of water to disperse the reaction heat and to control the temperature. The polymerization is usually carried out at 4080 ℃ ~ 326kg / cm ~ 2 pressure with inorganic persulfate, organic peroxide as initiator or redox initiator. The heat release of tetrafluoroethylene per mole was 171.38 kJ. Dispersion polymerization must be supplemented with perfluorinated surfactants, such as perfluorooctanoic acid or its salts.
